Happy 2014!

Happy new year, and welcome to Rodeo Gypsies’ third year together! Our friends and fans have been very generous and supportive since our inception in November 2011, and we thank you all very much.

For those of you who have been with us from the start, you have no doubt noticed our growth and metamorphosis into the realm of what’s come to be known as “gypsy grass”. It’s been a lot of fun twisting up some old favorites in ways that can only happen with the help of a mandolin, banjo and yes, melodica. We’re having a great time, and we hope to keep the rodeo rolling for a long time to come.

Thanks for all the support and positive comments. We love you all and look forward to seeing you soon. Please feel free to leave comments on this site as well as on Facebook.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous new year!

September Shows

Hello Gypsy fans!

It’s been a busy summer with vacations, private parties, more vacations, learning new songs, and on and on.  But we’ve got a couple of cool shows coming up in September, so check the Schedule page for more info. Hope to see you!

WordPress issues continue.

Try as we might, we can’t figure out how to fix our WordPress issue (missing toolbar).  Lots of people have this problem, and only a few have managed to fix it.  So if you’re wondering why you haven’t seen new photos or video for a while, now you know.  Patty is going to try and upload some stuff without the benefit of the toolbar, but that means no links and no formatting.  For those of you who are HTML whiz kids, this isn’t a problem.  But for those of us who learned WordPress from a “…For Dummies” book, we gotta have the toolbar.

Anyway, more content is on the way (eventually).  Stay tuned, and send an email if you’re looking for something in particular.

Welcome, Brian!

We are thrilled to welcome our newest Gypsy, Brian Dugan, who will be playing the drums. Brian comes to us with years of diverse experience, and he is a great addition to the group.  Photo and bio will be posted as soon as possible.

Steve’s New CD Live!

If you haven’t heard, Steve will be performing music from his new CD at a few local venues. Check out Steve’s Page for more information.

Trouble with WordPress!

Hey gang…if any of you have WordPress knowledge, we need help!

Quite a while ago, I discovered that the visual editor would no longer work with Firefox, but it worked with Internet Explorer. A recent WordPress upgrade resulted not only in the loss of the visual editor, but the loss of the text editing tools as well (tool bar is missing).

A quick search suggested I clear the browser’s cache, cookies, etc., re-start the browser, and set the Tools to automatic updating, so that’s what I’m going to do next. Not everyone had success with this method, so hopefully I will find a resolution. In the meantime, I can no longer add links or format any text.

Thanks for any help you can provide. Just reply to this post or send us an email:

New Date: Rolf’s Jan. 4

If you recall, our last booking at Rolf’s was canceled due to the power outage from hurricane Sandy.  Let’s hope for better luck on January 4, 2013.  Let’s also hope you’re all not too pooped from the previous week’s holiday celebrations!  The way we figure it, this will put a cap on the last week of festivities.  Looking forward to seeing you then!

McCarthy’s Open Mic Night

As some of you know, we recently started playing the local open mic nights to work on our twisted bluegrass stuff (Gypsy Grass as we call it).  These shows are usually during the week, so the trick is to get there early and play first.  Our friend, Brian, showed up as well, but he was so far down the list that it just got too late to keep hanging around.  Next time we’ll write him in!

Unfortunately, Jamo wasn’t available to play drums with us that night, but luckily there was a drummer in the house who agreed to help us out.  He did a great job, and we thank him very much.  This was an excellent open mic night with lots of really great talent.  Everyone got to  play at least five or six songs, which is pretty good for the open mic circuit.

Thanks to our new McCarthy’s fans for the great feedback. Hope to see you at a Rodeo Gypsies gig!

Rolf’s Cancelled Nov. 4

Well, it took us a while to post about this cancellation, but on November 4, the power was out and we had no way to access the internet.  Stormageddon had pretty much incapacitated the entire area, so we assumed no one would have been able to get there anyway.  This actually happened last year when we were scheduled to play at Rolf’s, but the power came back during the day and we were able to play.

Rolf’s will be giving us another date, and we’ll be sure to post it as well as send out a mailing.  Better luck next time!

Halloween Party!

We just picked up a gig at a Halloween party!  This is really going to be a lot of fun.  Not sure about costumes, but it’s a couple of weeks away, so anything is possible!  It’s always great to play for a new audience and make new friends, so we’re really looking forward to this.

Whatever you may be doing for Halloween, have fun as though no one is watching, and most importantly, get home safely.  Hope to see you at Rolf’s on November 2.
