So how do we introduce ourselves? More than just a classic rock band (though we do cover that genre with songs by the Stones, Beatles, etc.), there’s also Grateful Dead and New Riders — classic yes — but classic rock? Not quite. With Little Feat, The Band, Van Morrison, The Byrds, Jimmy Cliff and many others thrown into the mix, it gets a little tough to categorize. Then we add some blues and rockin’ country by Bonnie Raitt, Martina McBride, Terri Clark and Linda Ronstadt just to mix it up a little more.
Perhaps we could be described as a blend of psychedelic cowboy music and classic roots-rock, seasoned by a swampy voodoo vibe with carefully layered high-lonesome harmonies from five distinctly different vocalists, with an instrumental lineup featuring pedal steel, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin and banjo, keyboards, bass, drums and hand percussion.
In a nutshell, we play songs you know and love, and probably don’t hear played live very often (if at all). Definitely something different!
Rodeo Gypsies boasts many years of diverse experience, and we can’t wait to share this great roots-rock style with all of you. This timeless music speaks to the heart and soul, and will likely have you on your feet (if not just dancing in your seat).
